Visa

Estonia is a member of the European Union and part of the Schengen Area. Nationals of the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA) and any third-country national holding a residence permit of a Schengen State do not need a visa to enter Estonia – a national ID card or passport is required for entry. Transportation

By Air: Most major European cities are less than 2,5 hours away by air. Direct flights are available from Tallinn to Stockholm, Copenhagen and Helsinki as well as to many other major European cities such as London, Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin, Amsterdam, Paris, Milan, and Barcelona. Major airlines serving Tallinn include SAS, Lufthansa, LOT Polish Airlines, airBaltic, among several other carriers.

There are currently no regular direct trans-Atlantic flights to Tallinn, but Tallinn is well connected to Helsinki, Stockholm and Copenhagen, which can be used as hubs for trans-Atlantic travel.

Lennart Meri Tallinn International Airport is about 4 km from the Tallinn city centre as well as from Tallinn University (10 -15 minutes by taxi). For a budget-friendly option, take tram 4 directly from the airport terminal to the city center (about 15–20 minutes, €2, pay by tapping your contactless bank card when boarding). Trams run every 10–12 minutes from roughly 05:30 to 23:00. Get off at Viru for the Old Town area near the venue.Further information on Tallinn Airport website.

By Sea: Another option when travelling to Tallinn is to fly into Helsinki, Finland, and then take a ferry from there to Tallinn. There is a frequent ferry connection between Tallinn and Helsinki, taking around 2 -3 hours, depending on the operator. Ferries also link Tallinn and Stockholm via Tallink Silja’s overnight service. By Road: Tallinn is 300 km from Riga, Latvia on the Via Baltica, part of the E67 Highway that runs to Prague.

By Bus: There is a choice of international bus lines connecting Tallinn with Riga, Vilnius, St.

Public Transportation within the city: There is hardly a need for conference participants to use public transportation in the city, as the conference venue, all main hotels and major tourist attractions, restaurants and shops are in the city centre and within walking distance. Taxi: Tallinn is easy to navigate by taxi. We recommend downloading Bolt app, Estonia’s home-grown ride-hailing app, which shows your fare upfront and is the fastest way to get a car. From Tallinn Airport to the city center expect to pay around €10–15 (about 15 minutes); from the port terminal, around €7–10. Uber and the licensed Forus app are also available, and taxi stands are located outside major hotels and at key intersections throughout downtown.
